Liturgia i ewangelizacja na Camino

Canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic
As the coronavirus pandemic is unfolding, we discerned it would be best to cancel the 2020 Spirituality on the Camino project. We thank all those who have expressed their interest in joining us this August. Our hope is to hold a similar summer project in 2021 so we invite you to check our website next winter (2020/2021) for updates. God bless!

Thousands of people travel each year along this ancient path to the tomb of the Apostle James. Something mysterious calls them to leave behind the known and the comfortable, they say. We want to be there to tell them Who it is that calls.

Dominican Liturgical Center of Krakow invites you to join a summer evangelization community in Pamplona, Spain, Aug 1-24, 2020. The group of up to 24 Dominican friars, sisters, and lay associates will take care of the beautiful church of St. Dominic in order to create a prayerful place of encounter where pilgrims to Santiago will be able to experience the presence of the One who mysteriously prompted them to walk.

This summer program co-sponsored by the Dominican friars of Pamplona and many local Camino associations is meant to bring liturgy lovers from around the world to live in an intentional community, to explore liturgical practices of the Church (Gregorian chant, sacred polyphony, contemporary liturgical music), and to invite Camino pilgrims and tourists to their solemn celebrations of Divine Office and the Eucharist. Daily Adoration, confessions, and faith-related conversations will also offered. As Dominicans we especially cherish pursuit of truth, that is why our communal life on the Camino will include daily reading, discussions with invited speakers, covering topics of secularization, the place of Christians in contemporary societies, Catholic art, etc.

How does this work? We invite you to apply to join us for a week or two. Our lodging is an old Dominican priory, a Dominican nuns convent, and a nearby apartment. Daily chores will include cooking and cleaning. Our days will be divided between liturgical prayer, study, and social activities (including street evangelization and meetings with pilgrims). We welcome everybody, especially musicians! Dominican brothers (ordained and non-ordained alike), sisters and laity would be a great asset to the community as we desire to utilize the preaching potential of the Dominican Family. One requirement is that applicants speak English as this will be the first language of the community.

How much does it cost? Thanks to our sponsors we are hoping to cover the cost of your food and lodging, so the only expense that is on you would be your travel cost.

During registration, you will be asked to fill out an online application form in which you will be able to tell us a bit about your motivation and the gifts you would like to bring to our program. The DLC team will review received applications and will contact you in early March.

In order to make sure that our liturgy and evangelization community is also a place of learning and dialogue with art, history, and contemporary culture, we have partnered with the Nicolaus Copernicus University (UMK) Theology Department in Torun, Poland. Prof. Piotr Roszak of UMK, the leading Camino scholar in Poland and an adjunct professor at the University of Navarra in Pamplona, is joining our team to help us create a formation program for the Spirituality on the Camino participants.

Thank you for considering applying to our summer evangelization community!
